My philosophy as a Game Designer is that each and every part of the game should work together to strengthen the vision of the game and that each of these parts should function in consistent ways that make sense in the game's world. This is by no means easy and can often mean leaving old conventions behind or breaking new ground completely.
Playing as many different games as possible is key to achieving this, as a certain mechanic, design idea or even the tiniest detail which is commonplace in a certain genre could be exactly what another kind of game needs to reach even greater heights. However I also approach development in a similar fashion. I aim to experience as many different areas of development as possible in order to have as much knowledge of the inner workings of the game as I can. For this reason I also specialise in Unity development as it lets me create very different games for a wide range of platforms. Whether I'm programming mechanics, building environments, mixing sounds or tweaking visual effects they all give me another tool to use when designing but also when communicating with other members of the team.
Having this experience from designing and developing very different games and for different platforms is my greatest strength. Not only do I have a lot of knowledge to draw from when designing but it also makes it easier for me to understand the rest of the team and to make sure we're all on the same page. As such I hope to have the pleasure of working and learning together with you!
